Acne-prone skin needs special attention and requires intensive and gentle cleansing without the irritation caused by harmful chemicals. Homemade acne remedies are cost-effective and natural solutions to cleanse and treat acne-prone skin.
One of the known homemade acne remedies is cucumber. Rubbing a cucumber peel with the wet side up and leaving it on overnight is effective in drying out the acne without drying up the entire face. Another practical remedy to treat acne-prone skin is lemon juice. Using a cotton ball, apply lemon juice to skin to clear out the pores and achieve normal skin pH level. Apple cider vinegar is also an alternative for this procedure.
Other homemade acne remedies to treat acne-prone skin are aloe extract or oatmeal. Aloe vera extract can be used as skin cleanser to counteract infection and aid in the healing process. Application every morning and night can improve complexion. Cooked oatmeal on the other hand can work as skin astringent. Applying cooked oat meal to the skin and leaving it on for 15 minutes followed by thorough rinsing with lukewarm water is effective in removing skin impurities when done daily. This procedure can promote smooth and healthy-looking skin within 1 to 2 weeks.
Another way to treat acne-prone skin via homemade acne remedies is the use of grapefruit seed extract. Adding 30 drops of grapefruit seed extract to 4 ounces of water creates a gentle disinfectant solution. Using a cotton ball, apply the solution to affected area three times daily. The mixture of grapefruit seed extract with water can act as an effective disinfectant to treat acne-prone skin.
An all-natural and effective facial mask can also be done in the comfort of your home to cleanse acne-prone skin. Homemade acne remedies have a solution for individuals who want a gentle facial mask for skin care. This can be done by mixing ¼ tomato, 1 tsp mashed cucumber, 2 tsp plain yoghurt, 2 tsp aloe gel, 2 mint leaves and 3 tsp oatmeal powder altogether. Apply mixture to face and leave the mask on for 15 minutes before rinsing with warm water.
